We will play ZTE for the 90th time in the NB1 on Saturday.
On Saturday at 14:10 our team will play a very important league match against the new MOL Hungarian Cup winners ZTE FC at the MOL Arena Sósto. This will be the 90th NB I league match between the two teams. Of the 89 meetings so far, we have won 40 and drawn 25 while losing 24. The goal difference is 147-101 in our favour.
On our home pitch, ZTE have only won five times - the last time coming 14 years ago. We have drawn 11 times and left the pitch victorious in 27 games.
ZTE FC started the 2022/2023 season under head coach Ricardo Moniz, with Attila Dragóner as sporting director. In the MOL Hungarian Cup, ZTE did really well and reached the final under Ricardo Moniz, but as the results in the league were not coming, the head coach and the sporting director were fired in the second half of April. The former was replaced by Gábor Boér, while István Sallói, who served as Vidi's sporting director from the summer of 2021 to autumn 2022, was appointed sporting director, and laid the foundations for the current Vidi last summer.
With the arrival of Gábor Boér, the ZTE side began to soar, winning the MOL Hungarian Cup against Budafoki MTE, by a 2-1 scoreline and in the league against Mezőkövesd while beating PAFC 2-1 at home, and in the last round they drew 1-1 at home to Vasas, which saw Vasas relegated.
In the autumn we drew 1-1 at home to ZTE, while this February we lost 2-1 in Zalaegerszeg.
ZTE FC's top scorer is Ikoba with 11 goals.
