Match Report: Vidi take a point in the 1-1 draw

Vidi took the lead through Petryak but the home side managed to level later in the game.

In the 3rd round of the OTP Bank Liga, on Saturday evening, our team was the guest of Győr's newcomer Gyirmót FC. Our former head coach, Aurél Csertői's side started the season with a 1-1 draw against MTK at home, but then lost 2-1 in Kisvárda on matchday 2. We also started with a draw (1-1 in Zalaegerszeg), but our match against FTC - originally scheduled for last week - will be played on 22 September.

This time Imre Szabics went for the starting line-up of: Kovácsik - Fiola, Musliu, Rus, Stopira - Petryak, Alef, Makarenko, Heister - Dárdai, Nikolics.

In the 4th minute, Petryak's free kick was not connected with in front of goal, so the danger went away, but two minutes later it was different as we scored, but Nikolic' goal was disallowed for offside. In the next 20 minutes, apart from Petryak's corner and Heister's cross, there was not much to talk about, and then in the 30th minute we took the lead! Fiola crossed from the right to Heister on the left, who played the ball to Petryak, who burst through the middle and with his left foot shot into the right side of the goal (0-1).

At the end of the half, Alef had to be substituted due to injury (Szendrei replaced him), then Medgyes broke past Musliu and shot wide from a sharp angle from 6 metres out, but it went inches wide. At the half time break, Attila Fiola was replaced by our home-grown youth player Zsolt Kojnok, who was making his first appearance in the NB I. (Kojnok played a major role in Vidi II's midweek win in Zalaegerszeg, scoring two goals in the 3-2 win.)

In the 48th minute, a great situation was missed: a cross from Dárdai was headed over the goal by Petryak from a few metres out. 10 minutes later, Dárdai was brought down by a defender inside the Gyirmot penalty area, but neither referee Karakó nor the VAR saw a foul. In the 61st minute Gyirmót equalised: after a corner, Varga headed into the net from inside the five-yard box (1-1).

Ten minutes later and Rus shot well over from 11 yards and in the 76th minute Heister powered just wide of the bottom left from 20 yards.

In the 79th minute, Nikolic' close range header was blocked by a defender, and two minutes later Petryak fired over after Szendrei's excellent pass in a great position. In the 87th minute, Stopira's left-footed effort was blocked by Hársfalvi. Jallow and Szabó joined the attack towards the end after coming on, but we failed to create any more chances, as did the home side, and the match ended in a draw.

Our next match will be on the 21st August, when we will host the 100 percent Kisvárda at the MOL Arena Sóstó.
