Match Report: Vidi draw 1-1 away at Debrecen

Vidi went ahead through a first half Hodzic goal but the home side levelled in the second half.

Vidi made the visit to an unbeaten DVSC in 2020 on Wednesday evening in match 19 of the OTP league. Joan Carrillo made changes to his side from the weekend team that won at Ujpest. Juhasz, Milanov, Houri and Futacs all dropped out with the latter becoming a father for the second time today after the birth of a baby daughter. The starting line-up included Vinicius, Petryak, Funsho and Hodzic.

The game started with a chance for Stopira after 6 minutes after Hodzic found him with a pass. The left back sent his shot over the bar from 10 meters. Petryak aimed for the bottom right from 16 meters minutes later, but keeper Kosicky saved. Adeniki at the other end had a chance on goal, but Stopira managed to take the ball off him in the final second. The game was 19 minutes old when Szecsi dribbled down the left wing and cut inside before shooting wide. Adeniji had another big chance a moment later but Kovacsik did well to deny him.

Former Vidi player Adam Bodi curled a corner on 22 minutes, which Kovacsik reacted well to as he tipped the ball over the bar. Petryak then made the home keeper work shortly after. A nice attacking move ended with the opening goal for the visitors. Kovacs played in Fiola down the right, who sent a ball into the middle for the arriving Hodzic to pounce and find the back of the net (0-1). It meant that the Bosnian forward joined Robert Feczesin on 8 goals at the top of the goalscoring table.

There was still time for Stopira to realise that the Debrecen keeper was off his line and from 45 meters attempted to lob the ball over him. However, it ended up on the roof of the net. Stopira again forced Kosicky to work as his shot after 45 minutes went wide of the post.

Neither manager made a change at half time with the first real chance of the second period coming after 59 minutes. Bodi sent his close range header at Kovacsik, who saved. Kovacs found Petryak unmarked after 65 minutes and his shot rebounded off a defender and into the path of Hodzic, who did not have time to direct hsi shot at goal. Hodzic had another chance a minute later from a tight angle, but his shot went wide of the target. The same forward was again in the thick of the action after 72 minutes. Hodzic appeared to be fouled by the home keeper but the referee's whistle remained silent.

DVSC were awarded a penalty with ten minutes remaining after Stopira made contact with Szecsi, who fell to the floor. Bodi stood behind the ball and sent the keeper the wrong way to level for the home side (1-1). Vidi tried to regain the lead in the minutes that remained but without creating a serious chance. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and Vidi will next be in action on Saturday with a home league game against Mezokovesd.
