Match Report: Two goal defeat at home to Paks

Goals from Szabo and Konyves earned visitors Paks the three points on Saturday.

The final home league match of 2019 took place on Saturday with Paks FC the visitors to the MOL Arena Sosto. Manager Joan Carrillo took charge of his first home game since returning to the club.

First half - chances only for Vidi

The game was 3 minutes old when the ball bounced off Nikolov towards goal but keeper Racz comfortably dealt with it. A long range shot at the other end from Kecskes was punched away by Kovacsik. The ball was mainly in the middle of the pitch for the majority of the first half with Vidi enjoying more possession. However, there was no real danger at either end.

Petryak went down the left wing after 37 minutes and took the ball towards Osvath at pace before cutting in but he chose to pass instead of shoot. The move ended with Elek powerfully volleying at goal, but Racz was able to get down and palm the ball away. A Nikolov corner was headed at goal by Stopira but Racz produced a fine save to deny him from under his own crossbar. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0 at the MOL Arena Sosto.

Second half - Paks ruthlessly convert their chances

The second period kicked off without a change to either side. However, the first cold shower arrived after 54 minutes. Kecskes took a free kick inside our half. The ball found Szabo who managed to roll the ball into the back of the net from close range and from what was a tight angle (0-1). The action continued and Windecker tried his luck from 17 meters but the ball went wide of the post. A Nego cross on 72 minutes was headed over by Milanov. Nego sent in another cross moments later, which Patkai just failed to connect to at the far post.

Paks scored their second goal after 78 minutes after Konyves dribbled inside and curled the ball into the far corner of the goal from 14 meters (0-2). Vidi pressed forward in the remaining minutes of the match while the visitors hit several dangerous counter attacks. There was no further change to the score line and it was Paks that came away from Szekesfehervar with all three points. Vidi are next in action next Saturday with a trip to Kisvarda.
