Vidi came from behind to pick up three points thanks to goals from Hodzic and Houri.
Match 20 of the NB I season saw the second placed side take on the team in third. The opponents at the MOL Arena Sosto were Mezokovesd. Director of Football Zoltan Kovacs acknowledged Akos Elek after the midfielder played his 200th NB I game last week against Ujpest.
Kovacs had the first chance for the home side after 3 minutes when he shot over. However, it was the visitors that took a lead after 15 minutes. Cseri went down the left and centred to Berecz, who is on loan from Vidi, and the midfielder found the back of the net from 15 meters to make it 0-1. There was not too long to wait for the response. Elek took aim from 30 meters and his shot rebounded off Hodzic and wrong footed the keeper to level (1-1).
Houri took a free kick from a dangerous position after 20 minutes while Cseri struck his free kick at the all at the other end. A rarely seen long range beauty was then witnessed by those inside the stadium. Houri collected a badly cleared ball and from 30 meters picked out the top corner to make it 2-1. It really was a fantastic goal and very few will better it this season.
Petryak received a kick to the back of his head in an accidental clash and the referee signalled straight away for treatment. Unfortunately the winger was unable to continue and Funsho came on to replace him. (Petryak was taken to hospital in what is a normal procedure but the doctors did not find any serious problems and he is fine now - commented dr Tibor Kovacs.)
It was Mezokovesd that started the more dangerous in the second half. Berecz played the ball out to the left to Cseri after 53 minutes, and found his teammate who headed it at goal, but Zivzivadze and Vinicius collided in the middle and the Vidi defender required treatment. Referee Solymosi ruled out the goal as a result. With 56 minutes played, Stopira's cross was headed straight at goal by Funsho in the middle, but keeper Szappanos pulled off a very good point blank save.
Funsho gained possession after 71 minutes off Pillar and took the ball forward before shooting wide of the target. The 73rd minute saw new signing Nemanja Nikolic return to action following he move during the week. It was the forward's 150th game in a red and blue shirt since coming back to the club on Thursday.
Mezokovesd pressed forward towards the end and they found the back of the net in the 86th minute: Cseri found Berecz, whose cross fell in to the path fo Daniel Nagy, and his shot went in but Besirovic was ruled to be in an offside position. There was no further change to the scoreline and Vidi picked up an important 2-1 win to remain in second place.
Vidi are next in action in the Hungarian Cup with a game against Ujpest FC in Szeged.
