Dániel Kovács saved a penalty as we left Kisvárda with one point.
In the 27th round of the OTP Bank League our team played in Kisvárda on Sunday afternoon. Against the red and white team, our head coach Bartosz Grzelak started the game with the eleven of Kovács D. - Bese, Larsen, Stopira, Heister - Christensen, Flores, Makarenko - Kastrati, Kodro, Dárdai.
We had to wait nearly ten minutes for our first shot, when Kodro's attempt bounced off a home defender for a corner. The corner kick was taken by Kastrati, who was on target, but Hindrich cleared the ball from under the bar. Kodro was active again in the 18th minute, but the home goalkeeper also saved a long-range shot from the Bosnian striker. Three minutes later, after a Kisvárda corner, Heister made a great tackle from the edge of the box and Camaj headed over from close range. With two minutes left in the first half, Flores fouled Leoni inside the box, but Mesanovic's penalty was saved by Kovács, ending the first half without a goal.
Neither team made any substitutions at the break and the match restarted after a few minutes delay due to technical problems with the referees. The teams were back on the pitch four minutes later, when Karabelyov's shot posed some danger, but Kovács did not have to save. For the rest of the half, the 2010 spectators were treated to a long period of hard-fought play mostly in the middle of the pitch - of course, a good number of Vidi fans accompanied the team to Kisvárda, and the goalkeepers had little to do in this period. Nego replaced Kastrati in the 71st minute, and in the following minutes Mesanovic and Navratil both had attempts, but neither home player found the net. Lucas' 85th minute long-range shot was saved by our goalkeeper, by which time Pokorny, who had replaced Christensen a minute earlier, was also on the pitch. In the three minutes of extra time, Katona Mátyás came on for Makarenko, then Kodro and Ilievski each had a shot, but our striker's attempt was blocked and the home substitute was not on target, the final score was 0-0.
