Match Report: Comfortable 4-1 home win over Budafok

Goals from Petryak (2), Alef and Rus secured all three points on Saturday evening.

The 14th round of the OTP Bank League had Budafok MTE as the guests at the MOL Arena Sosto. We have already met the team from the capital once this season, beating them 4-1 away in the 3rd round. It is interesting that Budafok were last able to leave the pitch victorious against Zalaegerszeg, which was five matches ago.

The pandemic situation also intervened in the starting team today. Our three players: Nikolic, Nego and Nikolov's test showed dubious results. Fortunately, the repeated test yielded negative results for all three of our players, however, after the indifferent first result, in order to act responsibly and eliminate risks as much as possible, the professional and medical staff decided not to include them for the match.
That meant that the following eleven ran out to face Budafok: Rockov - Rus, Fiola, Stopira - Bolla, Rúben Pinto, Alef, Houri, Hangya - Zivzivadze, Petryak.

We only had to wait five minutes for our first goal. A foul on Petryak resulted in Houri taking a free kick from the right corner of the box. Alef rose nicely to nod into the bottom right of the net. 1-0! In the 10th minute Takács could have shot from a tight angle for the visitors from 16 meters, but the effort didn't find the target.

Five minutes later and the scoreboard read 2-0. Bolla's attempted shot spun high on a defensive leg in front of the opponent's goal, Petryak looked up and volleyed nicely with great force into the corner of the net from seven meters. 2-0! In the 23rd minute, Zsori found himself in position, but his shot was blocked by Rus, then Kulcsar's rebound was collected by Rockov with confidence. In the 28th minute, after Petryak's corner, Pinto got into a shooting position, adjusted himself and then sent it towards goal, but the shot from twenty-five meters went over the bar.

Vidi extended their lead further again in the 35th minute: Zivzivadze got onto the ball in the opponent's half following a weak back pass, our striker running at goal alone, and he noticed Petryak coming to his right, and unselfishly passed the ball to him, and the Ukrainian winger made no mistake as he calmly scored from eight meters. 3-0! The action continued in what was a good match. Budafok's Olah flicked Kulcsár's free kick in front of the Vidi goal, but Rockov was alert and collected. The last moment of the first half again had a home chance: Zivzivadze could have shot after a nice series of tricks, his low shot had to be saved by Poser in the visiting goal.

In the third minute of the second half, Bolla tested the keeper with his shot being saved by Póser in the middle in front of the incoming Zivzivadze, but the rebound was cleared by the defenders. In the 55th minute, Adrian Rus also scored. Houri's cross was beautifully met by the defender from six yards and the header nestled in the back of the net. 4-0! Petryak almost scored a hat-trick in the 66th minute, but his goal was ruled out due to being offside. In the 67th minute, Vidi replaced three players: Bolla, Zivzivadze and Alef coming off in place of Geresi, Funsho and Nyari entering the pitch. Three minutes later, Petryak passed to Geresi, but the shot was blocked by a defender. A minute later, Geresi headed home, but again, it was ruled out due to being slightly offside. Shortly afterwards, the visitors were able to take a quick free kick, Lorinczy's shot was too high.

In the 75th minute, Poser had to save a Patrik Nyari shot, and a minute later Szabo broke into the box from the left for the Budapest side but his curling shot went over. Eight minutes before the end of regular time, Fiola and Petryak were replaced by Szabo and Zeke. Budafok scored a consolation goal in the 92nd minute: David Kovacs shooting low following a Lorinczy's free kick. The result did not change in the remaining time, as we beat Budafok 4-1 again.

Vidi are next in action on Tuesday evening at the MOL Arena Sosto when Puskas Academy are the visitors.
