A penalty from Huszti and a late Futacs goal secured Vidi's second win of the new season.
MOL Fehervar FC played their second league game of the new 2019/2020 season on Sunday evening. Their opponents were Puskas Academy who had won 3-1 away at Ujpest in the season opener last week. Vidi went into the game at the Pancho Arena having beaten Kaposvar 4-2 last Sunday.
Marko Nikolic brought in Huszti for Petryak, while Fiola took his place alongside Juhasz in the heart of the defence in place of Rus. The starting line-up was: Kovácsik - Nego, Juhász, Fiola, Hangya - Kovács, Hadzic, Pátkai, Huszti - Hodzic, Futács. PAFC fielded the following eleven: Hegedüs - Szolnoki, Meissner, Hadzhiev, Nagy Zs. - van Nieff, Radics - Sós, Knezevic, Henty - Vanecek.
The first promising chance arrived after two minutes. Hangya sent in a cross, which Hodzic headed towards goal but the flag went up for offside. Hodzic remained active on 8 minutes when he sent his left foot shot from 20 meters just wide of the goal. Keeper Kovacsik had to be alert to save well with his leg following an effort from Zsolt Nagy. The game was 15 minutes old when Henty played in Sos through the visiting defence, but Kovacsik came out well from his goal. Knezevic went down the right side after 20 minutes and his low cross towards Sos ended with the ball going wide of the target.
The teams continued to battle well and with a half hour played, Fiola squeezed Henty into shooting wide from close range. The Nigerian forward then sent a cross in a couple of minutes later, which Vanacek back heeled into the path of Knezevic, but he could not find the target. The 34th minute brought a big chance: first Hodzic went on a solo run before his cross was cleared by a defender. However, the ball fell to Istvan Kovacs whose high ball in was headed just wide by Futacs.
Huszti found Hodzic with a pass on 38 minutes and Hangya crossed from the left, which Huszti tried to connect with but a defender got a leg in and the ball went out for a corner. There were no further chances in the first half with the sides going in at the break with the score at 0-0.
The second half started very well for Vidi. Zsolt Nagy brought down Kovacs inside the box and referee Kassai pointed straight at the spot. Szabolcs Huszti calmly stroked the ball to the opposite side that the keeper went to make it 0-1.
A cross from the left after 53 minutes went over Kovacsik but Hangya was well placed to clear the ball. Hadzic tried to pass the ball back to Kovacsik after 55 minutes but Henty intercepted, but he could not beat the Vidi keeper who saved well. Knezevic then seemed to beat the keeper moments later, but the ball rolled the wrong side of the post for the home forward and the score remained 0-1.
A shot from 16 meters after 62 minutes from Vanacek landed in the hands of Kovacsik. A cross from the right after 64 minutes bounced in front of Sos, but the winger found the side netting from close range. That was to be Sos' final role as he was replaced by Tamas Kiss. Marko Nikolic made two changes with Milanov and Nikolov coming on for Hodzic and Huszti. The substitutions were followed with Henty showing good pace to move well but he ended up sending the ball wide of the goal. Kovacsik did well to save from Vanacek after 74 minutes as he got down low with his left hand. The rebound fell to Radics, who did not connect with the ball and Knezevic could not hit the target. The action continued with another shot from Vanacek, which Kovacsik saved to deny him. Anel Hadzic was replaced by Ivan Petryak on 79 minutes. The summer signing was straight in the action as his first touch was to play the ball through the home defence for Futacs to calmly round the keeper and score (0-2).
The second goal seemed to break the home side and there were no more chances of note in the game. There was a free kick, which Nikolov took with 5 minutes left but it went over the bar. The final whistle went and MOL Fehervar FC have now picked up a maximum 6 points from 6 to stay top of the OTP League.
