Match Report: 2-2 draw against Ujpest FC

There were four goals shared at the MOL Arena Sosto on Sunday evening.

Match 29 of the OTP league season saw us entertain Ujpest FC at the MOL Arena Sosto. Manager Joan Carrillo fielded the following eleven: Kovácsik - Fiola, Rus, Stopira, Hangya - Pátkai, Elek - Nego, Houri, Petryak - Hodzic.

The first 10 minutes saw a shot from Simon, which Kovacsik collected comfortably. Houri saw his free kick on 11 minutes come back of the post from 23 meters.

The battle out on the pitch was big, but there wasn't really too much danger in front of either goal in the early exchanges. With 19 minutes played, Novothny just failed to connect with a cross from Simon. In the 29th minute, Patkai got hold of the ball and played Nego in with a chance, but a defender managed to clear. Petryak had a chance after 34 minutes, but his shot was blocked by an Ujpest defender. A quickly taken free kick close to half time by Houri found Petryak, who took the ball towards the box before crossing for Hodzic, but visiting defender Kire Ristevski made contact and the ball ended in his own net (1-0).

We went in at the break leading by a single goal.

The second half continued similarly to that of the first period with both sides trying to gain the upper hand. However, the first big chance of the second period saw Houri and Nego combine well with Houri then crossing into the middle for Patkai to head at goal, in what was a good move, but the ball ended in the hands of Banai. Ujpest drew level two minutes later: Nwobodo hit a lovely 24 meter shot that sailed into the top corner giving Kovacsik no chance (1-1).

We did not need to wait too long for the response: Nikolic had only just come on as a substitute and he headed a Houri corner, which was flicked on by Stopira into the net (2-1). Ujpest managed to draw level once again 10 minutes later. A corner was headed into the corner of the goal by Heris (2-2). Not long after, Zsoter curled a corner towards goal, which Kovacsik saved with his feet.

The remaining 15 minutes and 5 minutes of injury time did not bring a further goal. The two sides picked up a point each. Vidi are next in action on Wednesday evening at the MOL Arena Sosto when DVSC are the visitors in a league match.
