Match report: 1-1 draw at the home of Paks

Feczesin put Vidi ahead in the first half but the red and blues came away with a point in the end.

Around 150 supporters made the trip from Szekesfehervar on Sunday. Vidi played their first away game of the new season at the home of Paks. The home side had completely re-laid their pitch over the summer.

Henning Berg made three changes to his side that started Thursday's Europa League game. Geresi, Simon and Barczi settled for a place on the bench, while Nego, Feczesin and Lazovics came into the starting eleven. The manager sent his side out for the game in a 4-4-2 formation. The first chance of the match arrived for the home team after Szabo went down the left, and his cross ball brought Koltai into play, but he chose to pass instead of shoot from inside the box. Lazovics showed wonderful ball play three minutes later, when he backheeled to Feczesin, who brought out a good save from Kemenes from close range. Haraszti found himself in a similar good chance at the other end after 22 minutes. However, Kovacsik in the Vidi goal was equal to it and saved well. The action continued when Patkai fed the ball to the left for Feczesin, who moved inside and hit a sweet shot from 17 meters to give the visitors the lead (0-1)!

Lazovics again showed what he can do with the ball after 34 minutes. He found Feczesin again and the forward curled a ball, which clipped the left post. Another 5 minutes passed and the Serbian player again produced a lovely ball for Suljic, which the Bosnian midfielder shot just over the bar from 15 meters.

Paks came out much more attack minded in the second half. That quickly brought a reward with the home side levelling shortly. Kulcsar fed Balon with a good ball and his shot was well saved by Kovacsik. Haraszi sent in a curling free kick, which Gevay met at the far post to head into the back of the net. Kovacsik got a hand to it, but he could not stop the close range header from going in (1-1).

It was Paks who looked the more dangerous following that goal. Vidi could not create a chance for a while in front of the home goal, while the home team looked as if they had a goal in them. Vidi went forward on 72 minutes and substitutes Barczi and Geresi linked up for the latter to have a good chance on goal, but a defender managed to nick the ball off him in the final moment. There was no further serious chance in the remaining minutes and Vidi came away from Paks with a point.

Videoton are next in action on Thursday in the Europa League. The Q3, first leg tie against Danish side Midtjylland will kick off at 20:30pm.
