Marko Nikolic: Naturally I am disappointed

The two managers shared their thoughts shortly after the final whistle.

Vidi sufffered a 0-2 defeat in the Europa League Group Stage on Thursday. Belarus side FK BATE Borisov scored through Tuominen and Filipenko to collect the three points. Both managers shared their thoughts after the final whistle.

Marko Nikolic reaction:

"I would like to congratulate BATE for the three points. Naturally I am disappointed as we had chances, but the final result counts, so there is no use analysing. We can talk about us playing well or having more chances, but football is about goals and the final result never lies. It would not be correct to say that we were the better side as the visitors picked up the 3 points. I was satisfied with how we played but we were not sharp enough in the opponents box. We have relied in the recent past on players to score goals that were 35-36 years old in Lazovic and Huszti, as well as our right back Nego. I cannot say anything bad about our performance with the exception of the last 5 minutes. Our attitude was correct and perhaps BATE were more experienced and they converted their chances while we did not. I thank the supporters for coming out in large numbers and hope that many will be there in our league and Hungarian cup games. We also need them in those games. I congratulate my team as they gave their all on the pitch to try and get a good result."

The media also asked the manager about the summer arrivals and also the situation with Stefan Scepovic.

"Hodzic played for Vidi for the first time, Hangya and Berecz have already played in the league. I was surprised that Milanov had that many minutes in him on the pitch before coming off. He has only recently joined us but I think you can see that he is a good player. Stefan knows what he has to do if he wants to be in the squad. It is not a question of quality with him."

Aleksey Baga also gave his thoughts.

"It was a very difficult game and we played against a good side that put us under pressure. We took our chances and we won the game. I did not really see any surprising tactics from Vidi and they played exactly as they had seen from them previously. Their playing squad changed but the tactics remained. I am pleased with the three points but there are still many games for both clubs in the Europa League. Football today is about surprises so both sides still have the door open."
