Looking back at the OTP league weekend action

The second weekend of the Hungarian league season produced many goals

Vasas themselves lost their second game of the new campaign, when they lost 2-1 at home to newly promoted Pecs. All three goals came in the second half, with Nagy scoring the all important winner for the southern based side. Haladas slumped to a surprising home defeat over Honved. The all action game produced six goals with four going to the visitors. Striker Danilo helped himself to two first half penalties, with Haladas finding it hard to get back into the match. Lombard Papa carried on where they left off against Ujpest last weekend with a 2-0 home win over Siofok.

Friday 22nd July
ZTE - Debrecen  0-2
Saturday 23rd July

Papa - Siofok  2-0
Haladas - Honved  2-4
Sunday 24th July

A double from Marics did the damage and made it a good start to the new season for them. A second half goal for Győri ETO gave them a single goal win over Budapest side Ujpest. It meant maximum points for the Győr club, while Ujpest have yet to pick up a point in the first two games. Ferencvaros failed to take advantage of the fact that Diosgyőr had two players sent off. A first half goal from Abdi was not enough as Luque equalised for the Miskolc side. Kecskemet eased to a 4-0 home win over Kaposvar, thanks to a double strike from Foxi. The home side went out of the Europa league cup in midweek, but they shook that off with a good win. Videoton wrapped up a good weekend of football with a 4-0 home win over Paks. A Vasziljevics double helped Paulo Sousa's side to their first points of the season over last season's runners up. The weekend produced 23 goals in total.
