Loic Nego: "I would go in goal if I had to"

The French defender shared his thoughts on pre-season and the big tournament in France.

"It is exactly two weeks since we started the summer pre-season. The first two days was about getting familiar with each other again, which is totally normal. We are talking about a new coaching team at the head of the squad. There has been very serious work going on here in Austria. Last week was about building up our fitness levels. The manager also wants us to carry out the tactical elements that he would like to see. Unfortunately we lost our first friendly game on Saturday, but the main aim of that match was not about winning at all costs. Henning Berg played me in a defensive role in the game, and I felt good out there on the pitch. I had a big chance to score, which I thought should have gone in. I played as a winger in a few games towards the end of last season, but I have not spoken with the manager about where he sees me playing. If he wants me at the back, I will try to give my best. If he feels that I am better further up, then I will equally try my best in that position. I will even go in goal if I have to (laughter). We sit down in front of the TV when time allows besides the training sessions. It is good to watch the matches at the European Championships. I am very pleased that France began the tournament as hosts with a win. We can still improve in the way that we play but I think it is possible that France can make it all the way to the final" - commented Loic Nego.
