NEW HEAD COACH

Gábor Boér takes over as head coach

From Monday, the 42-year-old coach, with significant experience as a second division head coach, will take over the management of our team.

Our club has reached an agreement with Gábor Boér, who from today with over 230 matches under his belt, will be taking over our first team.

Gábor Boér was born on 19th December 1982 in Orosháza. As a player, he reached the first division, playing for Újpest FC and Békéscsabai Előre FC, while also playing abroad in the Israeli professional league with F.C. Ashdod. In addition to playing for the Hungarian youth national teams, he also played twice for the Olympic national team, while earning a degree from the University of Szeged.

He began his coaching career in 2011 when he obtained his UEFA B licence. In his first years, he worked as a youth team coach and technical director in Orosháza. In 2014, he obtained his UEFA A licence and was appointed head coach of Békéscsaba's second team. A year later, he was assistant coach of the that club's NB II team, and from March 2017, he worked as head coach in Békéscsaba. He managed the first team in the second division until June 2019, during which time they achieved an average of 1.75 points per game, with a goal difference of 162-110, and in just under two and a half years, they finished third once and fifth twice in NB II.

In the meantime, in 2018, he obtained the highest coaching qualification, the UEFA Pro licence. Between June and December 2019, he was head coach of Győr, then also in the second division, where he achieved a points average of 1.8 in 18 league games with his team. In the summer of 2020, he took over the reins at top-division side ZTE FC, where he worked until March 2021, before continuing as head coach of Budafok in NB II. From January 2022, he was head coach of Slovenian second division side NK Nafta, before returning to Zalaegerszeg in April 2023, where he won the MOL Hungarian Cup with the team. Last season, he worked as technical director at Békéscsabai football academy.

During his time as head coach, several players made their debut who now play in the first division, the best known of whom is Paks midfielder Szabolcs Mezei. Gábor Boér has participated in numerous study trips in Hungary and abroad, visiting RB Leipzig, AZ Alkmaar, SK Rapid Wien and, interestingly, Vidi in 2019, where he took a closer look at the video analysis work being done with the first team.

With experience as a head coach in both the first and second divisions and an excellent points average in the NB II championship, the new coach will hold his first training session with our team on Monday morning. We wish you every success in red and blue, Gábor!
