Five interesting things to know before the match against Vasas

We take a look at the two teams, with three former Vidi players in our opponents squad on Saturday.

In the 22nd round of the OTP Bank Liga, we will host Vasas FC at the MOL Arena Sósto on Saturday with the kick off at 20:15pm.

1. Overall record

The 96th first division match between Vidi and Vasas will take place on Saturday evening. The all-time record is even, but shows a slight superiority for Fehérvár: 33 Vidi wins, 32 draws and 30 Vasas victories. The goal difference is 137:126 in our favour, which results in an average of 2.8 goals per game.

Since Vasas' return to the top flight, we have only played them once in the NB I, losing 2-0 away in October, with Soma Novothny and Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas scoring the goals.

2. The highest margin of victory

Our biggest win against Vasas was on 6th November 1988, at home: head coach Gábor Kaszás led Vidi to a 4-0 victory over the 13th district team, with Zsolt Máriási and Zoltán Németh scoring once and Tamás Petres scoring twice.

3. Goal from the first touch

A rarely seen moment is also linked to a recent match against Vasas: in 2018, Krisztián Tamás was a substitute in the 90th+1 minute against Vasas by head coach Marko Nikolics. The left-back only touched the ball once in the remaining time, but it was a goal: he put Marko Scepovics' pass into the net with a fine shot.

4. Familiar faces

Among our players, Szilveszter Hangya used to play for Vasas' first team, Áron Csongvai, Dániel Kovács and Mátyás Katona also played for the XIII. district youth team, and our head video analyst Gábor Késedi worked as a coach for Vasas' youth team for ten years.

From the Vasas first team, Máté Pátkai, Zsombor Berecz and Róbert Feczesin have previously strengthened our first team, while Máté Ódor has 22 appearances for Vidi II. Kristóf Hinora only played for half a year in Gusztáv Vajda's U12 team, but he also played for the Vörösmarty Mihály Elementary School in Fehérvár, where he was a member of the young team, as did Levente Szabó. Fehervar born Krisztián Géresi, who has been with Vasas since the summer of 2022, is currently on loan in Szeged, while Máté Pátkai will definitely not play on Saturday due to a serious injury.

5. The date: 4th March.

The last time our team played on Saturday was in spring 2017, when we beat Honvéd 3-0 at home with a double from Danko Lazovic and a goal from Marko Scepovics. In 1973, we also played a league match against Vasas on the 4th March, when the Angyalföld team won 3-0.

Zoltán Kujundzic, the goalkeeper who played for Vidi between 1995 and 1997, and Frantisek Kunzo, the midfielder who played for our team in 2003, were born on the day of Saturday's match.
