Ferencvaros make it into the final four

Vidi could not make it into the semi-finals despite taking a first half lead through Stopira.

Vidi went in to the second leg with a goal advantage against Ferencvaros. The two met back on the 10th February, and a Robert Feczesin goal was enough to split the two sides at the Groupama Arena. The second leg began with a minute silence following the sad deaths of Debrecen supporters in a tragic car crash at the weekend.

Sestek and then a header from Lamah threatened the Vidi goal at the start. Ferencvaros had more of the ball, but they could not turn that possession into goalscoring chances. Poloskei sent in a long ball from a free kick on the right, which was met by the head of defender Stopira, who unmarked from 8 meters placed his header into the back of the net. (1-0). That gave Vidi a two goal lead on aggregate at that point.

Oliveira then found himself with a chance on the half hour mark, but a defender managed to clear the danger in the last second. There was action at the other end when Juhasz timed his tackle to perfection to deny Sestak from having a clear chance on goal. Trinks curled a ball over from 21 meters on 36 minutes. Trinks remained in the thick of the action when he lifted a free kick towards goal, which Juhasz headed out, but Sestak shot at goal from 12 meters, which saw Simon clear off the line. The action continued towards the end of the first half. Lamah played in Sestak, who ran towards keeper Danilovics, but the Vidi number one got down well to save a big chance.

Daniel Bode came on at the break for the visitors. He was soon on the goalsheet when he was on the end of a left wing cross from Lamah, and the big forward made no mistake from 5 meters. (1-1). Danilovics was then forced to come off following the goal with an injury to his thigh. Adam Kovacsik came on in place of him. It was also his first competitive game in the Vidi goal.

The tie turned on 76 minutes when both Feczesin and Pinter clashed and fell to the ground. Referee Kassai awarded the Vidi forward with a free kick. A penalty was then awarded four minutes later: Varga crossed from the right and the ball hit the hand of Stopira inside the box. Kassai pointed to the spot and Lamah hit the post, but the rebound bounced off Kovacsik, who had dived the right way, but unfortunately found the back of the net. (1-2). That goal also meant that Ferencvaros were ahead on the away goals rule. The final 10 minutes produced three red cards. (Patkai came off after being substituted, and he was shown a red card. Suljic and Trinks then clashed on the ground and both were sent off as a result.

The tie ended in a 2-2 draw, but Ferencvaros scored two away goals and they will go in to the final four to meet Debrecen. The other semi final will see Ujpest face Bekescsaba. Videoton are back at the Pancho Arena at the weekend with a home league match against Haladas.
