Videoton FC played out the final friendly match of their pre-season visit to Belek in Turkey. They were up against Russian opponents, FC Kuban Krasnodar, with the friendly ending in a 0-0 draw. There was an early Saturday morning kick off to this fixture, with very few chances being created throughout the match. FC Kuban had won three of their previous four friendly games in Belek, including a 3-1 win over Hungarian first division side Győri ETO.
The first real chance in the game fell to the Russians, who were managed by former Romanian international player Dan Petrescu. The chance came after 6 minutes, with a header hitting the crossbar following a cross. The referee than gave a penalty after he saw a handball inside the box. The decision baffled Paulo Sousa and his side, but there was justification as Traore's spot kick flew over Bozovics' crossbar. The remainder of the first half was fairly equal with few chances testing either keeper. The Russians had a powerful shot from Marco Urena hit the crossbar once again after half hour. A 40th minute Brachi free kick proved dangerous, but it failed to find the back of the net.
There were very few chances of note in the second half, with hard battles going on throughout the pitch. In fact a shot by Nikolics towards the end was the closest either side got to opening the scores in this match. The referee than produced a red card to Brachi, which he later decided to change to a yellow, in what was another strange decision from the match official. So the squad now pack their bags following the second training camp of the winter pre-season break. The three matches produced two goaless draws and a 2-0 defeat. The action now switches to the League cup and an away match in Diosgyőr on Wednesday.
