We spoke with our forward about the pre-season period and what kind of match he expects against his former team, Budapest Honvéd.
The summer preparation period has come to an end, and looking at the results of the friendly matches, it was a successful one for the team. Do you feel the same way?
I would like to start by saying that I am very happy to be here at Videoton. I think that a very good group is developing in Székesfehérvár, and this could be one of the keys to the team's success. Our friendly matches went really well, and it's important to note that we only conceded one goal in six games. I think our defence is solid, everyone did their job with discipline. Creativity will be important in attack, but it's also a good sign that, apart from the friendly against Vojvodina, which ended 0-0, we've scored in every game. I think it's very rare for a team to sign at least 20 new players in one transfer window. To be honest, I was also surprised that we managed to gel so well in such a short time.
The season kicks off next Monday evening at 8 p.m. with a big match, as your former team, Budapest Honvéd, visits Sóstó. What kind of match are you expecting?
I'm glad we can start the new season against Honvéd, as it will be a great test of strength for us, and I think the team from the capital feels the same way about this match. I could say that this is just one game among many, but that wouldn't be true. I made my debut in the top division with Honvéd at the age of 16 and spent many wonderful years in Kispest, but since then I've played against the red and blacks several times. I always enjoy playing against them, it's extra motivation for me to play against my former team.
How do you see the season ahead?
I don't want to look too far ahead; we always focus on the task at hand. We have a strong squad, and every player has to fight for his place in the team. That goes for me too, of course, as there are a lot of good strikers at Videoton. You have to give your all in every training session to make the team, and that can only benefit Vidi.
