A 2-1 defeat in the first pre-season friendly

MOL Vidi FC played their last competitive match 25 days ago. That was against Budapest Honved in the Hungarian Cup final. The 22nd June was the date that the first friendly ahead of the 2019-20 season was played. That was against Russian first division side FK Akhmat Grozny. 

Manager Marko Nikolic fielded the following eleven in the first half: Tujvel - Fiola, Juhász, Elek, Stopira - Nego, Hadzic, Huszti - Milanov, Scsepovics, Hodzic. The Chechen side played with Gudiev - Musalov, Adamov, Kaloshin, Kadyrov, Batcuev, Kharin, Khubulov, Ponce, Osmolovskiy, Mitrishev.

There was nothing too much of note in the first half. There was a counter attack from Grozny, which ended with Kadyrov finding himself with a chance on goal, but his shot was blocked by Elek and Juhasz managed to clear. There was 29 minutes played when Scepovic found Milanov, who was tripped by one of the Russian defenders. The resulting penalty was confidently dispatched by Szabolcs Huszti to make it 1-0.

Stopira shot from distance on 35 minutes but his effort went wide of the left post. There were no further chances in the first half with Vidi leading by a single goal at the break.

Akhmat forward Bernard Berisha was on the pitch in the second 45 minutes and his dangerous shot after 50 minutes was flagged offside as he played in Mbenge. The Kosovon striker was in possession inside the Vidi half on 58 minutes before going down beside Juhasz. The referee pointed to the spot and it was Berisha who made it 1-1.

Marko Nikolic changed his side on the hour mark with Kovács D. - Hangya, Mocsi, Vinícius, Tamás - Nyári, Pátkai, Nikolov - Kovács I., Futács, Halmai continuing. Futacs played the ball into the centre after 64 minutes and Kovacs ran in, but he could not find the goal. Vidi had a goal ruled out after 71 minutes when Futacs headed the ball at goal, which the keeper saved, but Vinicius saw his shot into the back of the net flagged offside. 

The game was settled after 84 minutes when following a Vidi corner, the ball was cleared away by a defender and Berisha scored an individual goal to make it 1-2 as he beat Kovacs in the Vidi goal. The Hungarian side than took over possession in the closing minutes with Nikolov and then Futacs shooting over and also wide.

The final result was 2-1 to the Russian side with Vidi next in action on the 26th June against Wolsberger AC.
