Paulo Sousa spoke shortly after the Impact cup win over Ekranas
- When I said after the Basel match that I was proud of my team, then I do not what to say now. It is hard to find the words to express these 91 minutes. We dictated the match throughout, and were much better than our opponents, which we managed to show through the goals we scored, scoring four! The boys were disciplined and determined and played really well. I was especially pleased that we did not concede any goals" - said Paulo Sousa with a big smile on his face, following the match.
The substitutions that came on during the match did not affect the tempo, with two goals coming after those changes. Paulo Sousa brought on 7 subs in the 63rd minute.
"We made a total of 9 changes in the match, with 7 going on at the same point, around roughly an hour of play. Luckily the tempo remained with the side following those changes. We were better than our opponents, than we had been beforehand. This shows that even when a starting 11 changes, the team still plays well. This is crucial for us" - as Paulo completed his summary of the game.
Our club's former player, Valdas Urbonas, who is currently the manager of Ekranas, was in agreement with Paulo Sousa, that Videoton were much better than his side.
- Videoton deserved their victory. The game was balanced for the first 10 minutes, but Videoton quickly took over the game after that. We had a free kick at the start of the second half, that forced a great save from the Vidi keeper. If that would have gone in, than perhaps the final result would have been different. Videoton were better than us today. I would like to congratulate then on the win" - said the manager of Ekranas.
